Service: Sensory Room Volunteer Opportunity

Brook Park Elementary is an elementary school housed within the Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township and educates students in grades 1-6.  We have a lower income, racially diverse population with a variety of special programs.  We have a newly created sensory room in our school for our students to use for self-regulation and sensory integration!  We are a low income school with a very diverse population receiving our resources through grants for our students who otherwise would not have access to these awesome resources!  Our biggest problem is that we do not have enough staff to use the room to its full potential.  We are looking for volunteers to supervise students (grades 1-6) while they transition through their sensory schedule in the room to be sure they are safe, using the equipment appropriately, and that the equipment is being cared for.  This is a great opportunity to learn about sensory integration and gain experience working with elementary general and special education students.
