Who We Are
Hope For Tomorrow is an Indiana-based 501c3 non-profit organization serving the Burmese-American community. The Greater Indianapolis area has welcomed hundreds of new refugees, mainly from Burma. Today, over 25,000 Hoosiers on the Southside of Indianapolis alone are initially from Burma.
Our vision at Hope For Tomorrow is to empower Burmese refugees toward a hopeful and prosperous future. We do this by building bridges between the Burmese and American communities through education and service. Our Youth Programming develops future leaders who will seek to build a compassionate, just, and peace-promoting society. Our Citizenship Classes help Burmese refugees to become informed and civically engaged citizens.
Hope For Tomorrow runs three primary programs:
- U.S. Citizenship Classes
- After School Student Program
- Application Assistance: Green Card, U.S. Citizenship, SSA, and Passport.
Through these three programs, Hope for Tomorrow plays a crucial role in the educational development and civic engagement of the Burmese refugee community on the Southside of Indianapolis. In just three years, Hope for Tomorrow has served a total of 551 students in our Citizenship Classes and has helped over 600 students in our After-School Program.
