For five years, the Indianapolis Urban League and its partners have hosted no-contact, drive-thru food and meal distributions for families impacted by the loss of jobs and income reduction to foster hunger relief and help combat food insecurity in our community.
Volunteers assist with setting up meal distribution sites, bagging meals, directing traffic, distributing community resources, and loading food boxes. All volunteer duties are completed with social distancing and no contact for the safety of all. The Indianapolis Urban League requires disposable gloves to be worn at all times when handling items for distribution; face masks are optional.
Volunteering with the Indianapolis Urban League is an experience that allows volunteers to uplift residents in our community through service. We define our volunteers as friendly and caring, 18 years or older, willing to donate their time and talent, and provide excellent customer service to our guests.

This allows us to determine who will be available for the Drive-Thru Food, Meal, and Community Resource Distribution on that day. It also ensures that everyone volunteering for the second shift receives lunch, while the morning shift volunteers receive a light breakfast.
Attire: A company t-shirt or plain red shirt, jeans or long pants, and comfortable closed-toe shoes, such as sneakers, are acceptable (no Crocs). Dress for the weather with hats, gloves, coats, etc. We are outside most of the day.
